BUILD YOUR VILLAGE OF SUPPORT WITH BIRTHEE

Birthee Supports Moms

Women everywhere deserve to be safe, healthy, and empowered through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Advocacy and culturally competent care are especially important for Black, Brown, and Indigenous women in the US.

Sadly, the US is the most dangerous place in the developed world for a Black woman to give birth. Black women die from pregnancy-related complications at more than three times the rate of white women, regardless of income or education level.

*According to the CDC, more than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable.*

Often, the discussion about maternal mortality has focused on pregnancy and childbirth. Yet, according to recent CDC data, more than half of maternal deaths occur in the postpartum period. For women in the US, postpartum care is dangerously inadequate — typically no more than a single appointment four to six weeks after childbirth.

Birthee is working to improve the US maternal health crisis by connecting new parents with a network of culturally competent doulas, midwives, maternity care experts, and holistic wellness providers for a happier and healthier maternal journey.

Birthee Supports Providers

Birthee understands the challenges of growing a successful practice as a doula, midwife, or other maternity care provider. The Birthee app helps to make running a business smoother and easier as an all-in-one tool for client discovery, communication, and management.

Holistic wellness providers such as massage therapists, chiropractors, and aromatherapists who specialize in prenatal and postpartum care can even use the app so future clients can easily find and book their services.

Birthee's founder herself is a doula and is passionate about developing a deeper representation of black birth professionals and culturally competent providers within the larger birth community. She envisions a world where expectant mothers - everywhere - have access to culturally competent professionals who will be there during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Birthee's goal is to help make that world a reality.

An Official Perinatal Safe Spot

Birthee is honored to be recognized as a Perinatal Safe Spot for our direct services to parents. A Perinatal Safe Spot is a physical or virtual space where women and families can safely connect and find support.

A Perinatal Safe Spot is also a place to utilize the four tenets of The JJ Way model of care, which includes ACCESS, CONNECTIONS, KNOWLEDGE, and EMPOWERMENT in order to increase the opportunities for a positive birth outcome.

Meet Ameka Ali, MPA

Mother. Doula. CEO & Founder of Birthee.

As a mother of 5, a doula, and a Community Outreach Perinatal Educator, I understand the need that all women have for holistic care and support. I couldn't have had 4 successful home births (my last baby had other plans) without my doula, midwife, and wellness team. That's why I created Birthee.

Birthee is a simple app that makes it easy for women to build their village of support for a healthy and confident maternal journey from pregnancy to parenthood. To find evidence-based, culturally competent maternity care providers to support and guide them.

I see the disparity of care that exists in the Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities. Because of this, my mission is Birth Equity. Through Birthee, I hope to develop a deeper representation of culturally competent providers within the community and overcome the US maternal health crisis.
